British students to be able to take part in Erasmus program in 2027
Under the agreement, UK students will have access to both university-based study exchanges and vocational training placements across EU countries through the Erasmus Plus program.
EU students studying in the UK are anticipated to benefit from an international fee waiver, paying the same tuition as domestic students, capped at £9,535 ($12,806) per year. Meanwhile, UK students will continue paying their usual domestic fees at their home universities while participating in exchanges abroad.
The UK had withdrawn from Erasmus in December 2020 following its post-Brexit trade deal with the EU. The country officially left the bloc on January 31, 2020, after the 2016 referendum in which a majority voted to exit the European Union. The reentry into Erasmus marks a significant step toward renewed academic collaboration between the UK and EU nations.
